In order to
obtain a permanent FHR number, a horse must qualify as follows:
- Be currently registered by owner with AQHA
or APHA.
- Take your horses pedigree, and trace it back
to all ancestors born prior to January 1, 1952. All registered Quarter Horses on the
pedigree born prior to that date are considered Foundation Bred. Then check to see if
since that date your horse has more than 20% Thoroughbred blood added. If not, the horse
is eligible for a permanent number. For purposes of computing Foundation blood, the
Thoroughbred horse, Three Bars, is considered Foundation, as are all lines that come to an
"unknown" ancestor.
- No horse tracing to the AQHA sire,
Impressive, is eligible for an FHR number.
- Non-members must submit membership to either
the FHR or FQHBA, plus the
registration application fee. (An application for membership to the FHR or FQHBA must
accompany this application.)
- Submit a copy (both sides) of your AQHA or
APHA registration papers, showing the applicant as owner, and the applicants FHR
membership number. If your horse is ineligible, both the check and pedigree will be
returned.
- Members send $20.00 per horse, you will
receive individual number and a laminated registration card for your horse.
- For an additional $20.00, receive frameable,
extended, pedigree for your horse.
- Mail a check payable to FHR.
